Following her last screen appearance in the 2019 film Top Female Force, Hong Kong actress Shirley Yeung has shifted gears in her career, turning to live streaming to make ends meet.
The 46-year-old regularly posts on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok, sharing lifestyle videos that offer a glimpse into her daily life.
Her content includes travel vlogs, cooking tutorials, song covers and many more.
Additionally, Yeung, who’s currently based in China, keeps her followers updated by announcing her upcoming live stream schedules.
Recently, it’s reported that the former TVB star hosted a live stream where she was seen selling frying pans.
Previous articles from Hong Kong media also indicated that Yeung used to charge 1,200 yuan (RM730) for direct messages with people.
Many netizens have expressed their support for Yeung, leaving encouraging comments and wishing her success in her new venture.
Some also noted that the actress often live streams into the wee hours of the morning to provide for her two children – Krystal, 13, and Kody, five.
“There’s nothing wrong with working hard. Who doesn’t work hard for a living?” one netizen wrote on Weibo.
“You can make a lot from live streaming. I really admire Shirley,” added another.
Yeung first gained recognition after winning the 2001 Miss Hong Kong pageant and signed with TVB shortly after.
She made her acting debut in the 2007 series The Threat Of Love 2 and went on to build a successful career with dramas such as Angels Of Mission (2004), Always Ready (2005) and more.
In 2012, Yeung’s private life came under scrutiny following allegations of infidelity and having a child out of wedlock.
At the time, she chose to keep the identity of her daughter’s father private and later gave birth to a son in 2020.
