Taiwanese television host and entertainer Jacky Wu may soon have a bigger presence in Malaysia – beyond his love for the country's famous durians.
The 63-year-old durian enthusiast has set up a factory in Johor Bahru as part of his latest business venture, and revealed that he hopes to settle down in Malaysia one day, describing the country as his "second home".
According to a China Press report, Wu shared his plans during a performance in Malaysia on July 18.
"Malaysia is my second home. In the future, I'd like to move here and settle down," he said.
Wu later confirmed his remarks in an interview with Taiwanese outlet SETN News, explaining that his business operations are already spread across the region.
"We're producing our quantum water essence products. The factory is in Malaysia, while the company is based in Singapore. But I'm still flying around all the time, so it's really no different from before," he said.
Beyond his business plans, Wu also opened up about his personal life during his concert in Genting Highlands.
He confirmed publicly for the first time that he and his wife, Chang Wei-wei, divorced 12 years ago.
He said that their eldest daughter, TV host Sandy Wu, encouraged and supported him in making the difficult decision to end the marriage.
Wu also shared that he had chosen to leave all of his assets to his ex-wife and to “walk away with nothing”.
According to Singapore's The Straits Times, Wu told Taiwanese media outlet Next Apple News in a report published on July 19 that his divorce had been an open secret in the Taiwanese entertainment industry.
“It’s been circulating in the industry for a while now,” he said. “At my age, it doesn’t matter – it’s been so long since the divorce.”
He added that he decided to open up about the divorce now as he sees it as a natural progression.
