Donita Rose weighed in on her experience with weight loss at 50 years old and the pressures that come with trying to maintain an idealised image, especially as a celebrity.

Donita opened up in a recent Instagram post about the reality amid expectations to look the same as she did in her younger years after shedding 40lbs (18kg).

“Losing fat in your 50s can be quite a challenging experience, especially for women. After dropping 40 pounds, there’s often an expectation that you’ll look the same as you did in your 20s and 30s. However, the reality is quite different,” she captioned a photo of her at the gym.

Donita noted that humans can only do so much with the time that they are given.

“As a celebrity, there’s a constant pressure to meet public expectations and demands. Yet, our primary goal is to present ourselves as healthy and fit,” reflected the actress.

“We have a responsibility to embody health, but it’s essential to remember that we are just as human as anyone else. We don’t possess timeless beauty; we can only embrace what time grants us,” she continued.

The former MTV Asia VJ emphasised that aside from numbers and beauty standards, other intangible things like kindness are way more important.

“As the scriptures remind us, while beauty may be fleeting, kindness endures. Let’s aim to treat each other with kindness in our words and actions. For now, my husband and I are focused on staying healthy, keeping active, and seeking God every day,” she concluded the post.

Last year, Donita first opened up about her weight loss journey where she revealed she underwent liposuction and facelift procedure.

“I am 40 pounds lighter and I have never been happier. Say what you want to say about me but I am so grateful for the new and improved me. It wasn’t easy and it took exactly a year and half for me to get to this point,” she said at the time. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network
