Rumours of trouble in paradise for former US President Barack Obama, 63, and his wife Michelle Obama, 61, have been swirling for months.

Fuelled by Michelle’s noticeable absence from high-profile events – including Jimmy Carter’s funeral and President Trump’s inauguration in January – speculation about a possible split gained momentum.

The last time the couple was publicly spotted together before the rumours started to spread was in mid-December when they stepped out for dinner in Los Angeles.

Their extended time apart only added to the intrigue, leading many to question whether cracks had formed in their seemingly unshakable marriage.

However, Michelle recently opened up about her relationship with Barack – not through a tell-all interview but rather in a lighthearted podcast chat.

In a sneak peek of her upcoming episode on Not Gonna Lie With Kylie Kelce, the former First Lady shared a relatable marital disagreement – bedtime.

“Bedtime is the best time of the day. He just doesn’t understand – the joy of getting into some good sheets when it’s nice and cool,” Michelle said, revealing that Barack often teases her about how early she likes to turn in.

She admitted that while she’s happy to stay up late when entertaining guests, once the socialising is over, she’s ready to call it a night.

“I’m just trying not to go to bed before the sun goes down,” she joked.

During the chat, Michelle also poked fun at Barack’s struggles with punctuality, recalling how he had to adjust to her definition of being "on time".

“I was like, ‘Dude, a 3 o’clock departure means you’re ready to go – not looking for your glasses at 3 o’clock!’” she said.

While lighthearted anecdotes like these provide an insight into their marriage, the Obamas have not been able to escape more dramatic speculation.

In early 2024, tabloid In Touch published a sensational cover story claiming Michelle felt “betrayed” and Barack was “obsessed” with Hollywood sensation Jennifer Aniston.

The claims were swiftly dismissed when Aniston addressed the rumours on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, calling them “absolutely untrue” and clarifying that she knew Michelle better than Barack.

Despite Aniston’s denial, whispers of marital trouble persisted, with some podcasts and gossip sites alleging that the Obamas were “living separate lives.”

However, the couple appeared to shut down speculation on Valentine’s Day, when they shared matching tributes on social media.

"Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away. Happy Valentine’s Day, Michelle Obama!” the caption read.

Accompanied by a glowing selfie of the two together, it was a rare and deliberate show of unity. Michelle also responded warmly, and the couple’s public display of affection seemed to silence doubters – at least for now. – Sinar Daily
