Tom Cruise and Ana De Armas have fans wondering why the pair have been spotted together twice in one month, but insiders say it’s not romantic.
The pair were first seen on a night out together in London in February, but an insider at the time told People it was a business dinner with their agents “discussing potential collaborations down the line,” and added that the two actors “appeared to have no romantic connection, just friends.”
Cruise and De Armas were spotted again arriving in a helicopter together at the London Heliport. On Friday, sources insist in a statement to People that two are not dating, but rather working on an upcoming project. The Top Gun: Maverick star wore a casual outfit of black jeans and a brown shirt, while Blonde star De Armas wore a white T-shirt with jeans and a trenchcoat.
The source added that the duo were accompanied by director Doug Liman, but the specifics of the project are still under wraps.
Cruise and Liman have worked together on the 2017 film American Made and 2014’s Edge Of Tomorrow. And the 62-year-old actor most recently signed on to star in Liman’s film Deeper.
Cruise and Liman are also working on a movie set in space, which is currently in development with help from Nasa and SpaceX.
Cuban-born actress De Armas previously spoke about Cruise’s stunt work in a 2023 interview calling it “mind-blowing.”
“I totally get why he does it. It’s demanding and painful and your body is hurting everywhere, but it’s also very rewarding as I saw myself getting better at it,” she told USA Today. “Besides, it’s fun. And if I just go say my lines and someone else does the stunts, I’m missing that fun.”
As for Cruise, it’s confirmed that he will star in the upcoming Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, which will hit theatres on May 23. Meanwhile, De Armas is set to play the title role in Ballerina, a continuation of the John Wick franchise, set to be released on June 6. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
