Hong Kong actress Roxanne Tong recently attended a promotional event for her new drama, Other People’s Money (OPM).

In the series, filmed three years ago, Tong portrays a frugal housewife who becomes a victim of a scam. Later, her character turns to scamming herself.

The 37-year-old who is married to actor Kenneth Ma, 50, told Hong Kong media that she has some frugal habits of her own that don't sit well with Ma.

The two TVB stars tied the knot in December 2023, after three years of dating.

Tong shared an example from past travels with Ma, where she would choose a smaller, less centrally located hotel to save HK$200-300 (RM112.70-RM169.10). Ma, however, prefers not to cut corners.

"I feel more comfortable saving money like that. It's a bit housewife-like of me, but it makes him roll his eyes."

At least they are in sync when it comes to buying plane tickets. According to Tong, Ma prefers economy class over business class when flying.

"Even now, we rarely spend money on plane tickets, mostly using points to redeem them. But we always go for the lowest points option unless there are no seats available."

As the couple prepares to welcome the upcoming Year of the Snake, she was also asked about her plans to start a family.

“It depends on fate, but my husband has been very busy," the actress said.

"Kenneth just returned from China and now has to film New Year greetings. We haven’t even had time for our honeymoon yet.

"We hope to see the Northern Lights for our honeymoon, but unfortunately, we don’t have a long vacation.”
