There was no trace of exhaustion in Ji Chang-wook (pic), who had a packed schedule in the previous year, as he managed to exude an attractive and sexy aura despite taking on one role from another.

Since the start of 2024, Ji barely caught any rest. He was the lead star in the series Welcome to Samdal-ri, Queen Woo, and Gangnam B-Side, which followed the romantic comedy, historical, and action genres, respectively. He also took on the lead role as the mysterious Andy in the film Revolver.

Yet the actor doesn’t believe that he evolved into a “sexier version” of himself. He shared that he focuses on transforming himself in every project he accepts, with a keen attention to detail.

“I wouldn’t say that I transformed myself,” Ji said during a virtual conference for the action drama Gangnam B-Side.

“I put a lot of detail into what I wear, including the accessories and weapons I would have, and what kind of hairstyle and makeup I would wear. Basically, I put a lot of thought into how I would look like,” he further explained.

Since Gangnam B-Side and Revolver were of the action genre, Ji shared that he’s the type of actor who focuses on the pre-set scenes, apart from delving into the “violent” side of action.

“There are pre-set scenes [in action works] on how is this person fighting, why is this person fighting, and where is this person fighting. I focused more on those elements and built those elements together. That’s going to make the scene more convincing,” he said.

Hype is building up for the actor who’s set to lead the upcoming drama The Manipulated, where he will star opposite actor-singer Doh Kyungsoo. It tells the story of Tae-joong (Ji) who gets revenge against Yo Han (Doh), who orchestrated the heinous crime that sent the former to jail.

The Manipulated co-director Park Shin-woo hinted in a statement via Korean media outlet Osen that the K-drama will feature a “compelling narrative” showcasing the strengths of Ji and Doh.

“I’m thrilled and eagerly looking forward to the release of ‘The Manipulated’... His quest for bloody vengeance promises a compelling narrative and spectacular action that I believe viewers will find satisfying. Please look forward to it,” he said via a Soompi translation. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network
