Local artiste Adira Suhaimi gave her fans a scare today (Dec 5) when she uploaded a photo of herself sitting on a hospital bed.

Accompanying the Instagram post was a caption that read: “Taking a break for a while. My apologies for having to postpone some work.”

In an interview with mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Adira revealed that she was rushed to a hospital in Petaling Jaya after fainting in her home on Wednesday (Dec 4) night.

The doctor discovered that the 33-year-old singer was suffering from a high fever and a deficiency of red blood cells.

“Thankfully, I’m in stable condition now. I just need to rest until my fever goes away,” she said.

Adira suspected that overworking had contributed to her declining health, adding that this incident served as a wake-up call for her to take a break and prioritise her well-being.

“It’s not that I didn’t rest before ... I just wasn’t resting enough. After this incident, I’ll be sure to prioritise my health. No matter how busy I am, there must be time for resting too,” she said.

Many fans and local celebrities including Anuar Zain, Catriona Ross and Suki Low have since taken to social media to wish Adira a speedy recovery.

“Get well soon, sister,” said singer-actress Wani Kayrie.

One fan wrote: “You work so hard. Please make sure to take care of yourself. Get well soon.”
