Indonesian actor-director Baim Wong, 43, is staying calm despite his personal life being thrust into the spotlight after filing for divorce from his wife, Paula Verhoeven, on Oct 7 over allegations of infidelity.

To maintain his composure, Baim avoids reading social media comments, particularly those about his marriage and divorce, which have become the subject of public gossip.

"There are things worth reading and some that are not. I am a sensitive person. If I read such things, they tend to linger in my thoughts. So it’s better not to read them.

"I also don’t want to blame others. Don’t hold grudges against those who speak ill," Baim said during the premiere of his directorial debut film, Lembayung, at GSC Tropicana Gardens Mall, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday (Nov 26).

Despite the ongoing divorce proceedings, Baim revealed that he and Paula remain in regular communication. The former couple shares two young children, a three-year-old and a two-year-old.

"We are still in contact. She still sends me WhatsApp messages, even now," he said.

Paula also appears briefly in Lembayung. Commenting on her involvement, Baim said: "I have no issues with Paula’s acting. She personally asked to be part of this film."

When asked about the possibility of reconciliation and cancelling the divorce, Baim simply requested well-wishes. He added that honesty will be the deciding factor in their future.

"My strength comes from making peace with myself. Pray for the best for my family. As long as there’s honesty, I can accept anything," he said.

Lembayung, which also stars Malaysian actress Anna Jobling, is set to hit cinemas nationwide on Dec 5.
