Hong Kong actors Bob Lam and Philip Keung are currently in Malaysia to film a new Chinese New Year movie, Sin Chew Daily reported.

On Tuesday (Nov 5), Lam shared a post on Instagram to mark his first day on set, revealing that Keung, the film’s producer and lead star, invited him to join the project.

“My character is Ah Shun, whose specialty is causing trouble.

“Honestly, today was quite fun. I hope everything continues smoothly in the coming days,” the 45-year-old captioned his post, which included a selfie of him with Keung, 58.

Lam’s last movie in Malaysia was the 2020 Chinese New Year release Good Wealth 2020.

Earlier in July, he opened a hotpot restaurant at Lot 10 in Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, with former TVB actor Oscar Leung.

Lam mentioned at the time that Malaysia is like a second home to many Hong Kong people.

Malaysia has become an ideal filming spot for international productions in recent years.

Earlier in September, Kuala Lumpur's Medan Pasar was featured in the first teaser trailer of Marvel Studios' upcoming flick Thunderbolts*.

The movie's lead star, English actress Florence Pugh, also seemingly confirmed that she had filmed at KL's Merdeka 118, which is the second tallest building in the world (678.9m).
