Malaysian-born actress Jacquelin Ch'ng shocked fans in November 2022 when she ended her two-year marriage with Taiwanese businessman Brian Yang.

At the time, she cited several reasons for the divorce – including never having the upper hand in her marriage, conflicting priorities and long-distance challenges.

In a recent interview with HK01, Ch'ng, 43, reflected on her shortcomings that contributed to her split from Yang.

The TVB star mentioned that she used to be impulsive, stubborn and short-tempered, which "irritated" her ex-husband.

However, she has learned to express herself better now.

Ch'ng, who's based in Hong Kong, also cited conflicting ideologies as another reason for her divorce.

According to the actress, she and her ex-husband had very different political views, which put a strain on their marriage.

"When looking for someone to be with in the long run, the most important thing is to have aligned ideologies and values. In my previous marriage, because our beliefs were not aligned, it led to a lot of conflicts," she told HK01.

Ch'ng revealed in a video earlier this month that she and Yang often had arguments due to their differing views.

The actress added that during their courtship, she and Yang were unaware of each other's beliefs as they rarely discussed sensitive topics like politics.

Ch'ng tied the knot with Yang in March 2020.

Despite being married, the pair lived separately – with Ch'ng staying in Hong Kong to pursue her acting career and Yang returning to Taiwan to handle his bubble tea business.
