Chinese top actress Zhang Ziyi reportedly made 305 million yuan (US$45.2 million) after selling part of her stake in a children's skincare company she co-founded.

According to National Business Daily, Zhang, 47, was among the founders of Shanghai Yiye, the company behind children's skincare brand Newpage, which was established in 2022. In addition to investing in the business, she also became its brand ambassador, lending her celebrity profile to the company's marketing.

Zhang co-founded children’s skincare brand Newpage in 2022, investing about 2.3 million yuan (US$341,000) while also fronting the brand as its ambassador.

Four years later, she reportedly cashed in part of her stake for 305 million yuan (US$45.2 million), turning the investment into a return of roughly 130 times her original capital, according to Kbizoom.

She has not fully exited the business and reportedly retains a stake of about 6%, while continuing to serve as the brand's ambassador.

Zhang has long ranked among China's highest-paid actresses. After rising to fame with "The Road Home" in 1999, she reportedly commanded appearance fees of around 2.1 million yuan per event, while some endorsement deals were said to be worth about 20 million yuan per brand annually.

Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Zhang has built an international reputation through films including "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "Hero," "House of Flying Daggers," "Rush Hour 2" and "Memoirs of a Geisha." Her other notable works include "2046," "The Grandmaster," "Jasmine Women," "Forever Enthralled" and the 2025 film "She's Got No Name."

Zhang divorced rock singer Wang Feng in 2023. Since then, she has continued raising their two children while maintaining a relatively private personal life, according to The Straits Times. -- VnExpress-Vietnam News/Asia News Network
