One of Malaysia's top directors, Adrian Teh is back with a new movie but this time around he's tackling something outside his wheelhouse.

Known for his action-packed box office hits such as Paskal The Movie and Malbatt: Misi Bakara, Teh's new offering Reversi marks his first attempt in the drama genre.

Reversi has been officially selected for competition at the 26th Udine Far East Film Festival, taking place in Italy from April 24 to May 2. This also means that Reversi will have its world premiere at the upcoming film festival.

“It’s an honour to represent Malaysia once again at this year’s edition (of the film festival). Reversi is a new venture for me and I’m very fortunate to be able to collaborate with a group of amazing cast and crew," the 39-year-old said in a statement.

“This (movie) is about love & loss and it’s about what if we are given a second chance. I look forward to sharing it not just with Malaysians, but to the world audience with hopes that this story will inspire us to cherish our lives and our loved ones,” Teh added.

According to synopsis. the movie – with a time travel element – tells the story of a husband’s undying love for his wife and son, who goes to great lengths to correct his past for a better future. It stars Beto Kusyairy, Shiqin Kamal, Vanidah Imran and Hasnul Rahmat.

This is not the first time Teh's movie is competing at the Udine Far East Film Festival. In 2022, Teh's The Assistant also competed and premiered at the festival.

Reversi will be released in Malaysia later this year.
