British pop star Rod Stewart has cancelled his concert in Malaysia.

The singer was originally set to perform at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on March 4 as part of his Live In Concert, One Last Time Asian tour.

According to a statement from concert organiser Live Nation Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur gig has been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Those who have purchased tickets from the authorised ticket platform, GoLive Asia, will receive a refund through the original payment method.

“Our ticketing partner, GoLive Asia, will be reaching out to you via email regarding the refunds within five business days,” said the statement.

The cancellation notice is a disappointment for fans who have been waiting nearly three decades for Stewart to stage a show in Malaysia.

The 79-year-old was previously scheduled to perform at Stadium Merdeka on Aug 31, 1995 but postponed his show in deference to National Day.

Despite initial reports indicating the concert would be rescheduled for a later date that year, a new date was never announced and Stewart never returned to KL after that.

Having sold more than 120 million records worldwide, Stewart is among the best-selling artistes of all time.

He has released 32 albums, with the last one being The Tears Of Hercules, released in 2021.
