Hong Kong actress Elvina Kong, who is said to reside in the outskirts of Hong Kong near the mountains, has fallen victim to burglary for the fifth time.

The 56-year-old was not at home at the time, as reported by South China Morning Post. However, the theft resulted in her losing HK$160,000 (RM95,465) in cash and valuables.

According to a source quoted in the report, the actress lost two gold necklaces, three pairs of jade and diamond earrings, as well as a diamond ring worth HK$133,000 (RM79,362) in total.

The burglar also made away with HK$4,500 (RM2,685), US$400 (RM1,866), and 20,000 yuan (RM13,066) in cash.

After experiencing four previous break-ins, the Let It Be Love star had installed a security system at her home.

However, when the first alert was sent to her this time, she dismissed it, thinking it was triggered by her domestic helper who was set to return from the Philippines.

There had also been a few false alarms in some locations of her house, so she didn’t pay much attention to the first alarm. It was only after the second alarm that she realised there might be trouble.

“A few days ago, there were false alarm situations, so I didn’t pay much attention. But then, half an hour later, there was an alarm at the garden gate. I was alerted and started to feel afraid,” Kong is reported to have said to TVB.

“The biggest advantage (of the system) is that it makes a noise. At least it’s loud enough to serve as a deterrent. But to be honest, I feel quite helpless living in an outskirt area near the mountains.”

Despite the multiple burglaries and suggestions from her sister to move out, Kong is unwilling to do so.

“This house holds sentimental value as it is our ancestral home, and I have been living here for a long time. I don’t want to surrender to criminal forces.”

The report included the source saying that they believe the burglar had entered the house by climbing onto the patio using a water pipe

The intruder then forcibly opened the living room door for entry and exited through the same way.
