Cher is slamming the allegations that she orchestrated the 2022 abduction of her adult son, Elijah Blue Allman, as a means of keeping him from his estranged wife on their anniversary.
In divorce docs filed last December, Marieangela King accused the Believe singer, 77, of hiring a group of men who “removed (Allman)” from a New York hotel room occupied by the couple on Nov 30 of last year. The claims went public last month when the docs were obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
“That rumour is not true,” Cher told People, adding that Allman’s years of substance abuse play into the matter.
“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” said the Grammy Award winner. “I’m a mother. This is my job – one way or another, to try to help my children.”
“You do anything for your children,” she continued. “Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache ... and you try to be there for them. ... I just keep trying.”
