Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chi-ling was unable to suppress her emotions in a talk show when she was asked which moment she would like to return to if she could.

According to Lin, the question hit close to home as her mother’s health had been “deteriorating rapidly” since her wedding with Japanese boy band Exile member Akira in November 2019.

“I want to go back to the day my mum remembers me and is still healthy,” the 48-year-old said, crying.

“Her health deteriorated very quickly after the wedding, and she couldn’t recognise (my husband) and me. I think she tried her best to hold on until I got married,” she added.

The supermodel’s mother had been suffering from Alzheimer’s since 2015 and would seek treatment at the National Taiwan University Hospital.

In the talk show, Lin revealed that her mother would get agitated easily when she's in unfamiliar places, which was why she decided to hold the wedding in Tainan, Taiwan – her parents’ hometown.

The Didi’s Dreams star admitted that while she normally accepts the many challenges thrown at her in life, her mother’s worsening condition was still a tough pill to swallow.

“Whenever I sit by her side, I can’t help but shed tears. I feel like even though we are so close (physically), the distance (relationship-wise) between us is so far,” she said.

Lin and Akira reportedly began dating in late 2018 after meeting while working on the Japanese stage play production of Red Cliff in 2011.

The couple announced their marriage in June 2019.

Though it has been reported that the quick marriage was prompted by Lin’s mother’s sickness, the Taiwanese star said in the talk show that her decision had “no direct connection” with her mother’s health.
