Widely helmed as "fashion's biggest night", the Met Gala has long been an event that presents not just bold outfit choices, but also memorable interactions between our favourite celebrities.

One of the buzziest interactions at the 2023 Met Gala, which took place at The Metropolitan Museum Of Art on Monday (May 1), is between Oscar winner Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh and popular Korean actress Song Hye-kyo.

On the day of the event, Song sent the Internet into frenzy after sharing on Instagram Story a selfie of her together with Yeoh.

According to entertainment portal Koreaboo, this is the first time in 14 years Yeoh and Song were spotted together in the same frame.

It is understood that they first met at the 61st Cannes Film Festival in May 2008.

The same year in July, Song signed a contract with Stellar Entertainment – a talent agency founded by Yeoh and Mission Impossible 2 producer Terence Chang – to expand her acting activities in the Asian market.

The duo's last photo together was taken at the 2009 New Entertainment Charity Stars Event in Shanghai, China.

On Twitter, a post comparing the 2009 picture with the recent Met Gala photo has caught the attention of netizens.

At the time of writing, the Tweet has over 1.4 million views and 68,000 likes – with many commenting that they were impressed by Yeoh, 60, and Song, 41, who looked like they haven't aged much from 14 years ago.

"How did they age backwards?" asked one netizen.

"They must be drinking water from the fountain of youth," said another.

"Drop the skincare routine right now. They look even younger now," a netizen noted.

Yeoh has been making headlines since becoming the first actress of Asian descent to win a Best Actress Oscar for her stellar performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

She is set to star in the Disney+ series, American Born Chinese, and reprise her role as Emperor Phillipa Georgiou in the new Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Section 31.

Meanwhile, Song recently won her first Best Actress award in the television category at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards held in Incheon on April 28.

She received the prize for her spectacular portrayal as Moon Dong-eun in the wildly popular Netflix revenge thriller, The Glory.

Song gained international recognition through her leading roles in Descendants Of The Sun and Encounter.

The My Brilliant Life star also ranked 7th in Forbes magazine's "Korea Power Celebrity" list in 2017.
