Director Syamsul Yusof is not willing to divulge anything further on matters concerning his first wife, Puteri Sarah Liyana, as he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings anymore.

The 38-year-old added that he is ready to accept whatever happens after the conciliatory committee (JKP) presents its findings at the Syariah Court come Monday (April 10).

He hoped that Puteri Sarah felt the same way.

Syamsul said this when met at the Gombak Lower Syariah Court on Thursday (April 6) in connection with the filing of a nusyuz (disobedience) application against Puteri Sarah.

The judge presiding over this case has set a new date for the hearing – May 8 – as Puteri Sarah was not present at the first mention of Syamsul’s nusyuz application.

Her lawyer informed that Puteri Sarah was overseas for work.

“Please pray for me and pray for Sarah, regardless whether this ends well or not,” Syamsul added on Thursday.

“I also don’t want to say much as I don’t want to end up saying the wrong thing.”

Syamsul and Puteri Sarah's troubled marriage has been covered quite extensively in the media ever since the Mat Kilau director announced his second marriage to Ira Kazar on Jan 6.

The two have since been sharing their thoughts on the matter via social media and with reporters.

From that point on, Puteri Sarah filed for divorce (on Jan 16) as well as a full custody claim for their two children (on March 22).

Meanwhile, Syamsul filed a nusyuz application on March 21 and held a press conference to clear up about certain things about his personal and professional life.

On the first mention of Puteri Sarah’s divorce application at Syariah Court, Syamsul refused to divorce his first wife resulting in having to go through conciliatory committee.

Besides adapting a new attitude on the matter currently, Syamsul is grateful that Puteri Sarah has never tried to keep their two children away from him.

As a matter of fact, he praised her for being cooperative when it comes to their kids – Syaikhul Islam, six, and Sumayyah, four.

“Alhamdulillah, I got to meet my children. Even though Sarah has filed full custody claim, she is very cooperative when it comes to me seeing the children.

“All this while, even though we had problems, Sarah and I were always professional when it came to our children,” he told the media.

On whether he will get to spend Hari Raya with the children, he said no comment.

He also refused to comment on his presently complicated relationship with his parents – Datuk Yusof Haslam and Datin Patimah – as he wants to keep his family matters private.

“I don’t know where I will be this Hari Raya,” he said.
