Former actress Margie Tsang recently landed herself in hot water after posting a throwback photo with her ex-boyfriend, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung who's married to actress Carina Lau, on Valentine's Day.

According to Guang Ming Daily, Tsang and Leung first met each other in 1982 and they dated for six years.

However, their relationship was tumultuous. It is reported that they broke up and got back together three times before finally calling it quits in 1988.

The 57-year-old, best known for her role in the TVB drama The Flying Fox Of Snowy Mountain, married an entrepreneur named Stephen Lam in 1996.

The pair, who later divorced in 2002, share a 24-year-old son, Hong Kong swimmer Martin Lam.

On Valentine's Day, Tsang uploaded an old photo of herself with Leung on the Chinese social networking site, Xiaohongshu.

In her post, she wrote: "Today's a special day, so I will let everyone see my first love! Looking at what he has achieved today, I'm truly happy for him!"

Her post aroused heated discussions among netizens, with many accusing the Police Cadet '85 star of "having extremely low EQ" for posting such stuff about a married man on a day special for couples.

"Is it OK to post something like this when the other party is already married?" one netizen wrote.

Some criticised Tsang for "trying to start trouble out of nothing" whereas others speculated that the former TVB star "regrets letting go of Leung" back in 1988.

Shortly after the fiasco, Tsang made another post on Xiaohongshu where she publicly addressed these comments.

"Such a harmless and simple matter has been over-complicated by certain people!" she lamented in a post.

Despite that, netizens continued voicing their disapproval, claiming that Tsang's post was simply "inappropriate".

According to South China Morning Post, Leung and Lau first started dating in 1988. The pair tied the knot in 2008 in Bhutan and is lauded today as one of Hong Kong's most popular couples.
