Taiwanese singer Annie Yi, who is currently based in China, has long been the subject of cosmetic surgery rumours.

Over the past years, there have been speculations of the 54-year-old star taking botox injections and undergoing an eye bag removal surgery.

During an event on Dec 10, Yi finally came clean about going under the knife.

“At this age, it’s impossible to not have some small cosmetic procedures done. At least my face isn’t stiff,” she told Hong Kong media.

Yi also stressed that her youthful appearance wasn’t just the result of surgery but also her genetics and personal efforts to upkeep her appearance.

“I may have some anti-ageing DNA in me. I also take care of myself and work hard to keep the ageing signs from reflecting on my face,” she said.

This revelation came off as a shock for most people as the singer previously rubbished claims of undergoing aesthetic procedures.

In 2017, Yi posted a series of photos of herself from her childhood up to present day, stressing that she hadn’t done anything except straightening her teeth.

Last year, Yi rebuked a netizen who accused her of going for an eye bag removal surgery, saying, “Sorry, I have never gone for that surgery. Please stop making wild guesses like that. I dislike it.”
