Another tragedy has struck the music industry.
It has been reported that a construction worker who was working at Gangneung Stadium in South Korea on July 31 fell while dismantling the set of K-pop singer Psy's Summer Swag concert.
The Mongolian man in his 20s sustained injuries after falling 15m from a tower. He suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to a hospital. On Aug 1, Korea Joongang Daily reported that the man had died.
Psy's agency P Nation expressed regret over the accident in a statement issued on July 31.
“We express our sincerest condolences to the worker who passed away after a sudden accident. We also send our deepest condolences to the surviving family.
“We will do our best to establish measures to prevent another accident like this from happening, with a sense of responsibility,” P Nation wrote in the statement.
Prior to this incident, Psy's Summer Swag concert was criticised by South Koreans for the wastage of water as the nation is facing drought.
In the concert, held in several cities in South Korea, water cannons are used to drench the audience and singer himself in water. According The Korea Herald, 300 metric tons of drinking water is used in each concert.
The accident in South Korea comes shortly after another incident at Hong Kong boy band Mirror's concert on July 28 where three dancers were injured when a large video screen fell onto the stage.
Videos of the horrific accident have gone viral. Hong Kong actor Louis Koo, who is the president of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild, urged netizens to not circulate video clips of the accident.
One of the injured dancers, Lee Kai Yin, 27, is currently in critical condition.
