Malaysian-Filipino singer Yazmin Aziz had gone to Baguio City, located on the Philippines’ Luzon island, to attend her best friend's wedding on Tuesday (July 26).
However, today, she was shocked to experience a powerful earthquake that had her and the wedding guests to find safety outside the hotel building.
The 20-year-old artiste tweeted around noon: "A magnitude 7.3 earthquake woke us up this morning. We’ve been evacuated from the Baguio Country Club building and we still can’t enter until further notice. Praying for everyone’s safety."
AFP reported that 7.0-magnitude earthquake killed at least three people in the northern Philippines on Wednesday, toppling buildings, and shaking high-rise towers more than 300km away in the capital Manila.
According to US Geological Survey, the article stated, the quake struck the mountainous and lightly populated province of Abra on the main island of Luzon at 8.43am.
The earthquake left "scores of people injured, triggered landslides, damaged churches, and knocked out power" according to an AFP report.
"I am on the road trying to get to Manila safely," Yazmin texted to StarLifestyle at 4pm today (July 27).
She is scheduled to fly back to Malaysia tonight, but says she's not sure if she would make it out on time for the flight as she's still on the road.
"Hopefully we make it through safely, as there are aftershocks to worry about."
Yazmin was in the Philippines to attend the wedding of her best friend, Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz. Diaz who is Philippines' first-ever Olympic gold medallist in weightlifting, married her coach Julius Naranjo.
"I was her bridesmaid and I sang at her wedding. The reception was held at the Baguio country club where we all were staying," Yazmin said.
