Khloe Kardashian is welcoming a second child with NBA player Tristan Thompson, a source familiar with the situation but not authorised to speak publicly tells USA Today.

A representative for Kardashian confirmed in a statement that the child was conceived in November. The couple share four-year-old daughter True.

"Khloe is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing," the representative added. "We'd like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family."

USA Today has reached out to a representative for Thompson for comment.

In January, Thompson confessed on Instagram to fathering a child with another woman, a revelation which Kardashian said in April was the most painful moment to film for the family's latest reality series The Kardashians.

"That was hard," she said, while seated beside sisters Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner and mum Kris Jenner.

"I think that was hard for me too," Kim added, explaining that she called her sister about the news while filming a workout.

It wasn't the first Thompson scandal Kardashian's had to weather. Reports of the demise of their relationship surfaced in 2019, as outlets linked the athlete to model Jordyn Woods, a then-close friend of Kardashian's younger sister Kylie.

Kardashian said in April that the pain "doesn't get easier" – but "you do become more numb" to it.

"When you're hurt so many times – your reactions, your responses to the same thing happening over and over again – there is a numbing sensation to it," she said.

Kardashian and Thompson's tumultuous relationship, which began in 2016, has played out across headlines and on E!'s Keeping Up, which aired its series finale in June 2021.

Days before True arrived in 2018, TMZ and the Daily Mail published photos and video of a man identified as the basketball player kissing and fondling various women. One video was shot that April inside a Manhattan club. Another, picturing two women kissing and groping him, was filmed in October 2017 in Washington, DC, according to the outlets.

In a March 2019 interview on Red Table Talk, Woods, then 21, admitted she and Thompson kissed, but denied speculation she was the reason for Kardashian and Thompson's split.

Kardashian thought differently. She took to Twitter after the episode to accuse Woods of being the reason her family "broke up."

"Why are you lying @jordynwoods ?? If you're going to try and save yourself by going public, INSTEAD OF CALLING ME PRIVATELY TO APOLOGIZE FIRST, at least be HONEST about your story."

Kardashian later walked back her comments, admitting she was going through a rough time and felt humiliated by the rumours, and apologised for blaming Woods.

"What's been harder & more painful is being hurt by someone so close to me. Someone whom I love & treat like a little sister," she tweeted. "But Jordyn is not to be blamed for the breakup of my family. This was Tristan's fault." – USA Today/Tribune News Service
