Life in plastic, it's fantastic ... and also painful according to Simu Liu who stars in the new Barbie movie.
In a new interview with Britain's The Independent, the Canadian actor revealed that he had to wax his entire body to achieve that plastic look for the upcoming Barbie movie.
“Waxing has been an education to say the least. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life," he said in the interview.
“I have such a newfound admiration for the incredibly brave women who go through this on a monthly basis."
The Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings star didn't reveal what character he is playing in the movie directed by Greta Gerwig.
The 33-year-old said he follows the chatter that goes on online by fans who are trying to guess the plot of the movie.
“Honestly, the discourse online is giving me life,” he said. “With every casting announcement or bit of news, they’re like: ‘What is this?’ And that’s perfect – the less you know about it the better.”
Barbie also stars Margot Robbie in the title role, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera and Will Ferrell and it's slated for release in July 2023.
Liu said he loves the vibe on the set of the movie.
"The aesthetic of the movie is just so vibrant and full of life. Imagine showing up to that set every day with a bunch of friends, like, 'Great, cue the music!'
"We're dancing, and then you come out of a 12-hour day, and you're like, 'Did I really go to work today? Or did I just hang out with my friends?'," he told Entertainment Weekly.
