Malaysian actress Aripah Damanhuri passes away at 73 from bacterial infection

Malaysian artiste Aripah Damanhuri passed away on Tuesday (May 31) at 8.15am. She was 73.

This news was confirmed by the actress’s youngest daughter Fais Nurpais Ismail to mStar, The Star’s Malay-language portal.

According to the report, Aripah was hospitalised for more than a month due to bacterial infection to her organs.

The bacterial infection was believed to have started in her lungs. She was admitted at Hospital Kuala Lumpur on April 23.

Her daughter said that Aripah fell unconscious this morning and that her heart stopped, despite efforts to revive it.

Aripah, who is the older sister of actress Normah Damanhuri, had been in showbiz since the 1980s, acting in both films (including Senario XX and 8 Jam) and on television in series such as Gerak Khas and Antara Maghrib Dan Isyak.

She will be laid to rest at Raudhatul Sakinah cemetery at Taman Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur.
