Former TVB star Tavia Yeung tired of being a full-time mum, wants to act again

Popular Hong Kong actress Tavia Yeung has taken time off from work to care for her two young children.

The 42-year-old, who is married to HK actor Him Law, 37, is mum to two-year-old daughter and six-month-old son.

But, if it was possible, Yeung wants to get back to acting because she says “taking care of babies is really tiring!”

“(It’s) more tiring than filming,” Yeung is quoted in an article on a news portal.

While she resumed acting six months after giving birth to her daughter – resulting in her appearance in this year’s 30-episode drama Modern Dynasty – Yeung confirmed she won’t be making a similar comeback this time around.

Despite her wanting to return to work quickly, Yeung said that the earliest she could get back to a drama set would be next year.

One of the reasons is because, her son is bit of a handful whereas her daughter was still manageable at the same age.

"He’s very active, has a huge appetite, and wakes up every night so we all haven’t been sleeping well," she shared. "My husband is also currently filming, otherwise he’d be able to help.”

Another reason, she said, is due to the pandemic, which has made it difficult for her to travel for work, especially to China.

“I need to make more money to buy milk powder, and to save more money to give my children a comfortable life. But because of the pandemic we would have to quarantine, so it's not worth it."

Nonetheless, Yeung added with a laugh: "If there are good scripts, I would want to go out and film a drama, (so that) I can have a break and take a breather."

Yeung was signed with TVB for the most part of her career, where she found great success starring in dramas like The Vigilante In The Mask, Dicey Business, Silver Spoon Sterling Shackles and The Last Healer In Forbidden City.

She parted ways with TVB in 2016 but continues to be a popular choice to headline drama productions.
