Country music icon Dolly Parton will be entombed next to her husband Carl Thomas Dean in Tennessee.

The 80-year-old singer will spend eternity wearing high heels and a comfortable cotton dress, according to TMZ. Dean, who died in March 2025, was laid to rest in a mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville.

The pair spent 60 years together. They were married during a small ceremony in Ringgold, GA. on May 30, 1966. The wedding was attended by Parton’s mother, the preacher and his wife, according to Parton’s website.

Parton and Dean largely kept their personal lives private throughout her long career, though she recalled to the New York Times in 1976 that she met Dean at the Wishy‐Washy Laundromat on her first day in Nashville.

“And he came over and, well, it was Carl, my husband,” Parton said.

A “small, intimate ceremony” for Parton will take place in Nashville soon, family members told TMZ. Plans for a possible public gathering haven’t been announced.

The I Will Always Love You singer died Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was reportedly admitted Friday to be treated for kidney and autoimmune problems.

Parton told People last week that she was “dealing with some health issues” she ignored while caring for Dean, but hoped to get better and continue working.

Fans and friends mourned the Grammy, Emmy and Academy award honoree on Tuesday.
