A new trend that seems to be spreading among Hong Kong stars recently is having their names legally changed to improve their fortune. Singer and actor Jordan Chan was the latest celebrity to do so.
It was reported by Hong Kong media that celebrity had approached renowned fortune teller Chan Ngok Fui to help him change his name to improve his luck.
Jordan, previously known as Chan Siu Chun, now goes by Chan Tai Chuen. The fortune teller was also said to have been paid approximately RM532,000 for his consultation. Ngok Fui had also previously came up with new names for celebrity couple Tavia Yeung and Him Law after they approached him.
Jordan, 54, opted to do the same for his wife Cherrie Ying, their eldest son Jasper and baby boy who they nicknamed Ho Ho. Ying had her name changed to Chan Din Yim Yee while the new names of their two children have yet to be revealed.
It seems that the name change might have improved Jordan's luck. Netizens have made the connection of the name change and Jordan's recent success in reality show Call Me By Fire, which saw 30 celebrities compete for a spot in a 17-member boy band. Jordan emerged first place.
