Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan wants to send home-cooked food to his son, Aryan Khan, who’s currently placed at Arthur Road jail in Mumbai, India.

The 23-year-old has not had much of an appetite for prison food, reported various Indian media.

Aryan’s arrest in early October for his alleged connection to a drug case means he has been in jail for close to a month now.

During that time, Aryan had spoken once to his parents via a video call and another time with his dad, when Shah Rukh was allowed to see him within the prison walls.

After the first conversation, it was reported that Shah Rukh had sent in money order so that Aryan could buy better dishes from the prison canteen.

At the end of the second meet, Shah Rukh had asked if he could send home-cooked food to Aryan.

However, the actor was told by the prison guard that he needed to get the court’s permission first before sending any food over to the prison.

Whether the court will approve it’s up for debate as Aryan’s request for bail has been denied twice by the court already because investigators alleged that he was involved in a criminal conspiracy.

One article reported that the Bombay High Court continued hearing his bail application on Wednesday (Oct 27), and that the India's Narcotics Control Bureau opposed Aryan’s bail plea arguing that Aryan was found in "conscious possession" of contraband.

With his son going through hardship, Shah Rukh and his family are said to forgo Deepavali celebrations this year, as well as his birthday which falls on Nov 2.

One Indian news portal wrote that the actor – whose father to three children – is asking his fans not to gather outside his home on his birthday as they usually do every year.

A friend of the family told the portal: “Not just Shah Rukh’s birthday, Aryan’s birthday is also coming up (on Nov 13). The thought of Aryan spending his birthday in jail is giving all of us panic attacks.”
