India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s 23-year-old son Aryan and seven others following a raid on board a cruise liner off the Mumbai coast.
The eldest son of Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan was arrested on Sunday (Oct 3) for alleged possession and consumption of illegal drugs.
According to the Indian Express, the bureau recovered 13g of cocaine, 5g of mephedrone, 22 pills of MDMA (Ecstasy) and 21 grams of charas (cannabis concentrate).
The recovery also included Rs1.33lakh (RM7,472) in cash, the report said.
An Indian media site stated that while Aryan was taken into custody, nothing was found on him and so, he was booked only on consumption charges.
Aryan's bail hearing was to be held today (Oct 4).
Meanwhile, an update on India Today wrote that Aryan broke down during the interrogation. The report further claimed that Aryan revealed during questioning that he had been consuming drugs for four years.
Although Times Of India reported that the NCB will not seek Aryan's custody at first, it later quoted the agency's director saying: "NCB will seek further custody of Aryan Khan. I cannot reveal the links and the findings of last evening's interrogation, but there are areas we need to investigate."
Amid the ongoing controversy, Bollywood celebrities have taken to social media to lend their support to Shah Rukh Khan including director Hansal Mehta and actress Phooja Bhat.
