In February this year, Chinese actress Gao Liu shared on social media photos of her plastic surgery that went terribly wrong.
The pictures showed the tip of her nose had turned black after a failed nose job.
In a recent interview, the 26-year-old spoke about her ordeal.
Throughout the interview Liu wore a mask, and only took it off to show how the tip of her nose is now crooked, reported a Singapore news portal.
According to the article, Liu said that the blackened tip has scabbed and fallen off about five times.
She added that the doctors had to remove a piece of cartilage in order to save the rest of her nose.
Worse yet, she was told by the many doctors she consulted that she will not ever fully recover.
“They say I would be able to recover about 70% or 80%, (but) it will take a year or two,” she said.
The actress is now said to be undergoing laser treatment and will go for reconstructive surgery next year.
It was reported that Liu had gone to a beauty clinic recommended by a friend in October last year to get the nose job. She had an acting gig in December, and thought would recover in time.
No thanks to the failed surgery, she had to be hospitalised for two months and went through multiple follow-up surgeries. From then on, she refused to be photographed.
The only reason she did the recent interview, she said, was to warn others not to go to unlicensed doctors and make the same mistake as her.
She was quoted saying: “Even if I can’t accept the fact (that I may never look the same again), I have to come to terms with it.
“My mum was with me every day in the hospital, and without her I don’t think I would have made it through what happened.”
