Toh Puan Julie Faridah (or Joria Basir) passed away at 1.37am on Sunday (May 30) at Hospital Pantai at Ipoh, Perak, due to viral infections. She was 77.
The Star’s Malay portal, mStar, reported that her daughter, Aziah Jasmin, informed of the actress’s death to Seniman.
Aziah stated that her mother was hospitalised two weeks ago.
Julie Faridah was buried at 11 am, Sunday, at Perkarangan Masjid Datuk Panglima Kinta, next to her husband’s grave.
She was married to Datuk Seri Azizul Hassan, who was a senior police officer and held the title “Orang Besar Jajahan Kinta” at one time.
Julie Faridah had acted as Faridah in the Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s film Keluarga 69, which was released in 1967. She had also appeared in the 1983 film Mekanik.
She's survived by a son and two daughters.
Her son Mohammad Yaakob is married to Tengku Puteri Mahkota Perlis Sharifah Fariza Duli Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, who is the youngest daughter of Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.
