Singer IU has been appearing on a number of Korean talk shows and variety programmes to promote her new album Lilac
Lilac is the fifth studio album from the star, featuring upbeat songs like Celebrity, Lilac, Coin and Flu.
Besides speaking on her latest work, the singer-actress also opened up about her life as an artiste on the shows.
On You Quiz On The Block, she shared on struggling to love herself, and learning how to do it at the age of 25.
“By accepting both my shortcomings and my strengths, I was finally able to like myself, ” said IU who turns 28 on May 16 (or 29 in Korean age).
Her latest appearance was on Famous Singer, which a spin-off from Sing Again, a Korean singing reality talent show.
On Famous Singer, IU performed Lilac with Lee Mu-jin, one of the top three contestants to emerge from Sing Again.
She also touched on her rise to fame, reported soompi.com.
“During my first sudden rise in popularity, I felt more scared than happy.
“The most confusing thing was that I had been on a TV show about a month or two before. I stood in the corner and couldn’t say anything and the camera didn’t even capture me.
“But a month or two later, I went on the same show and I was placed in the centre and asked a lot of questions and I didn’t know how I should act.”
Although she wasn’t prepared for the level of fame she had gained, IU admitted that there is an advantage to being famous.
“I like that a lot of people listen to my music.
"In the past, I’d go up on stage, and I’d hear comments like, ‘Who is that?’ It felt like no one was listening to my music, which is embarrassing for both the singer and the audience.”
IU, who is active on social media, also posted a live rendition of Ah Puh, another track from Lilac, on her Instagram. This one she performed at her own talk show which she does for her YouTube channel.
