Hong Kong singer-actress Sammi Cheng lost her father last month, she revealed on a Dec 20 Instagram post.
Cheng shared that her octogenarian father was hospitalised for more than a month beginning in October. The Marry A Rich Man actress and her siblings took turns to care for him.
The 48-year-old, who is still in mourning, wrote (translation by 8 Days): "I really miss him. During this period, my dad was always in my mind. I want to hold on to every moment of his life, and even more so, I want to hold on to my father’s unconditional love.”
She believes her father is among the stars in the night sky looking down on her, telling her to “live well and continue to work hard and improve".
She continued: “Dad, I will. I definitely will. After crying and hurting, I will pull myself together. Dad, tell me which star are you in the sky. Please remember to blink at me every night.”
Cheng, who also lost her dog Lucky a month before her father's passing, opened up about the difficult time she's going through:
"I lost Lucky and my dad. After experiencing one pain after another, it hurts when I think of them and I still cry occasionally. I am still a regular person. Sometimes, I just allow myself to be strong and vulnerable at the same time.”
