Actor Kamal Adli proposes to co-star Uqasha Senrose on live TV

Actors Kamal Adli and Uqasha Senrose aren't just partners on-screen, they're partners in real-life.

The two, who played romantic leads in local dramas Setelah Terlafaznya Akad (2019) and Perempuan Tanpa Dosa (2020), took their relationship to the next level when Kamal proposed to Uqasha during a live TV broadcast on Dec 20.

"I have an announcement to make," opens Kamal, 34, at local award show AME2020. "I've worked with Uqasha twice, we've played husband and wife. We've become colleagues, we've become friends, so..."

A few moments later, to Uqasha's surprise, Kamal is down on one knee, asking for her hand in marriage.

"Don't worry, I'm not simply doing this, I've spoken to our families," the usually playful comedian-actor gets serious. "Uqasha Senrose, would you be my wife?"

The 28-year-old actress, still in disbelief, responds: "Is this part of an effort to promote our new drama?"

Kamal, holding a ring in one hand, assures her that's not the case.

"Yes!" she finally says.

Kamal isn't the first actor to plan a proposal on live TV. In 2015, actor Hairul Azreen stunned viewers when he proposed to Hanis Zalikha, now his wife, on reality singing competition, Gegar Vaganza.
