On Dec 4, actress Faye Kusairi was brushing her teeth when the right side of her face suddenly became paralysed.
The 33-year-old, who was 38-week pregnant then, was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy and sought the help of a neurologist.
Bell's Palsy is a temporary facial paralysis or weakness affecting one side of the face. It usually happens when nerves in charge of facial muscles become inflamed.
Faye even documented her experience with Bell's Palsy via multiple photos and videos on Instagram to raise awareness on the condition.
"The physiotherapist advised me to do exercises such as practising opening and closing my eyes. It's important because if one eye doesn't close completely, it can lead to dry eyes and infection," she shared tips for those going through the same situation in one post.
On Dec 13, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She was subsequently discharged on Dec 15.
"Thank you for praying for me for my Bell's Palsy condition. I will continue updating everyone on the progress of my health as well as my confinement period," she wrote on Instagram.
She adds: "I will share a photo of my baby only when I'm really ready."
