988 deejays donate blood as blood supply runs low; urge Malaysians to help

988 deejays Alsen Lee and Cynthia Tan donated blood recently and urge the public to do the same.

On Oct 15, the Health Ministry took to social media to urge Malaysians to donate blood as the National Blood Centre's blood supply is rapidly diminishing.

Blood types B, A and AB in particular are running dry.

Chinese-language radio station 988 deejays responded to the call recently, and are urging the public to do the same.

Danny One, who donated his blood along with Alsen Lee and Cynthia Tan, described the experience.

“It took about an hour to complete the entire blood donation procedure. I pre-registered and made sure I had my National Blood Centre appointment card with me before heading to the destination, ” Danny One says in a press statement.

Meanwhile, Lee assures the public need not worry about potentially contracting Covid-19 as a result of the procedure.

“There’s no need to worry as the medical officers adhere to strict SOPs to ensure the safety of all donors, ” said Lee, who donated blood at the National Blood Centre headquarters at Jalan Tun Razak.
