While waiting for the Tamil thriller Poochandi to hit cinemas on Nov 12, a day before Deepavali, why not check out the film’s theme song titled Poochandi Vaaran first.

Poochandi is a term originally used by South Indians to frighten children, not unlike the bogeyman.

The track – composed and sung by Ganessan Manohgaran – was released recently, alongside a cyberpunk-themed music video.

Singer Ganesan first became known in the local music industry after emerging as the winner of Astro Vaanvail Superstar 2010. Besides performing the title track for Poochandi, he also stars in the film.

Helmed by JK Wicky – who is making his directorial debut – Poochandi centres on a journalist working with a magazine in India, who comes to Malaysia in search of local ghost stories.

Fortunately for him, he gets to hear more than one scary tale.

The film's first teaser came out a year ago. A new trailer was released on Oct 3, depicting a number of characters experiencing supernatural moments.

Other Poochandi cast members include RJ Ramana, Tinesh Sarathi, Logan and Ravi Shanker.
