Actor Nicky Wu tackled by security guards for acting suspicious, but he was just filming

Taiwanese singer and actor Nicky Wu didn't know what hit him when a team of security guards suddenly pinned him to the ground at a theme park while filming.

Wu – who has starred in hit Hong Kong dramas like At The Threshold Of An Era and Mainland China series Scarlet Heart – was working on the Chinese variety show The Irresistible, which sees two groups of male celebrities competing against each other in a series of tasks.

In a hide-and-seek game segment taking place at the Happy Valley Theme Park in Shenzhen, Wu decided to don an all-black ensemble, a face mask and a cap as a disguise.

Wu went up to a member of the opposing team to give him a tap as part of the objective of the game when a team of security guards tackled Wu and pinned him down, thinking he was up to no good.

The incident was caught on video and went viral on Weibo. The security team later apologised to Wu for the misunderstanding.

“Playing hide-and-seek games is just like the process of growing up. There will inevitably be small episodes of bumps on the road," Wu wrote on his Weibo account to reassure fans he was alright.

"But the important thing is the process. Did you work hard? Were you happy? I know everyone is worried about me. Don’t worry. I’m very happy.”
