Hong Kong actress Fala Chen left TVB at the height of her popularity five years ago but her risky move seems to be paying off, with Chen recently spotted in a teaser video of HBO's upcoming drama The Undoing.
Although the 38-year-old only makes a fleeting one second-long appearance in the Aug 6 teaser (spotted sitting beside the show's lead Nicole Kidman at tea), she shared about her involvement in the series in an Instagram post last year.
"First series out of school! So lucky to be part of this amazing cast and crew, and working with (director) Susanne Bier, (executive producer and cast) Nicole Kidman."
Shortly after leaving TVB in 2013, Chen enrolled in the prestigious art school, The Juilliard School, in New York, known for being exceptionally difficult to get into.
She pursued a four-year Master Of Fine Arts course and graduated in 2018.
The Undoing, based on the 2014 novel You Should Have Known, centres on successful therapist Grace Fraser (Kidman) whose life is turned upside down one day when she discovers her husband is hiding an unthinkable secret.
Chen plays a recurring character, Jolene McCall, and will appear in four of the drama's six episodes.
It seems The Undoing is just the beginning of her Hollywood journey, as rumours are swirling that Chen has landed a role on Marvel's Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings.
The Undoing premieres Oct 26 at 9am on HBO GO and HBO (Astro Ch 411).
