In conjunction with the month of Merdeka, Malay-language radio station Suria will be travelling across six states to meet listeners and treat them to a meal.
Breakfast show Team Pagi Suria deejays Ajak, Issey and Fizi Ali will be stopping by popular breakfast spots in each of the state, beginning with Ayang Cafe in Kota Baru, Kelantan (7.30am to 9.30am, Aug 14).
The tour continues at Nasi Dagang Atas Tol, Terengganu (7.30am to 9.30am, Aug 15), Hameed Pata Mee Sotong in Padang Kota Lama, Penang (noon to 2pm, Aug 22), Ipoh Hainan Chicken Rice in Perak (noon to 2pm, Aug 23).
The last two stops are Roti Canai Kayu Arang in Melaka (7.30am to 9.30am, Aug 29) and Nasi Lemak Wanjo in Kuala Lumpur (7.30am to 9.30am, Aug 30).
Besides enjoying a free meal with your favourite deejays, the public can also take part in various games and activities and stand a chance to win cash prizes, Suria merchandise and gold wafers worth RM350 by Makmur Gold.
Face masks and the Malaysian flag will also be handed out at the event.
Suria programme manager Roslinda Abd Majid says she hopes the Team Pagi Suria Merdeka Tour will enable the public to know the breakfast show deejays better.
“We are also aware about the concerns of the spread of Covid-19 in public places. Suria is committed to enforcing physical distancing measures and follow the health ministry’s SOPs at each of the stops.”
For those unable to attend the event, listeners will still have a shot at winning cash prizes and gold wafers worth RM250 by Makmur Gold.
Simply join the Sketsa Merdeka Suria contest from Aug 17 until Aug 21. Deejays Ajak, Issey and Fizi Ali will be performing a sketch during their breakfast show (6am to 10am, weekdays).
All you need to do is tune in to the sketch. But as the sketch is incomplete, you need to continue the narrative and jot it down on the comment section of Suria’s Facebook Page.
The most creative and interesting narrative wins. One winner will be chosen each day.
