Singer Nourul Wahab, 42, has taken to Instagram to call out a rude airport officer who raised his voice at her and her parents-in-law.
Nourul, who is married to Parisian Eric Depp, was sending off her in-laws at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on June 13. According to KLIA’s standard operating procedures, only one person can accompany a passenger into the airport.
In her Instagram post, Nourul wrote that she went with Depp’s parents as they could not speak Bahasa Malaysia or English very well.
As she tried to clarify that both of Depp’s parents would be flying, an officer on duty at the carpark shouted at them, saying that only two people were allowed to enter.
“An officer at the Gate C carpark was rude and nasty to us, even though we followed orders. He spoke to us as though we were trying to go against procedures, even after I explained that I would need to help my in-laws check in, ” she said in a video.
“I understand that there rules we need to follow, especially with the current pandemic. It’s okay to be strict, but don’t be rude! As an officer who is serving visitors as the face of the country, it really reflects badly on Malaysia, ” she added in the caption.

On June 15, Nourul posted a follow-up video where she clarified that her outrage was “not because she expected VIP treatment for being a celebrity". She also highlighted that was not the first time she and her family had experienced poor treatment at the hands of airport staff.
“Please watch till the end and try to understand what I’m trying to convey. This is a serious matter!” she wrote.
However, in a separate Instagram post, Nourul thanked the rest of the airport staff, who were kind and courteous as they escorted her in-laws to the departure hall. The singer also took a selfie with one officer by the name of Farina, whom she praised for exemplary service.
