Trailer watch: Rudy Habibie

This is not what Illona had in mind when she gave Habibie the cold shoulder.

Indonesian actor Reza Rahadian reprises his award-winning role as former Indonesian president BJ Habibie in this romantic film Rudy Habibie.

Set before the events of previous movie Habibie & Ainun (2012), Rudy Habibie focuses on Habibie’s youthful days as an ambitious engineering student in Germany. There he meets and falls in love with a German student Illona Ianovska (Chelsea Islan).

The movie becomes a Romeo and Juliet-like story for our star-crossed lovers as ambition, religious differences and jealousy come between them.

Based on the two-minute trailer which already has over 500,000 views on YouTube, viewers can expect a lot of tearful arguments, painful separations and well, turbulence because – you know – Habibie wants to build an airplane for Indonesia. But can Habibie’s dream take off with Illona remaining as his faithful passenger? Or will he leave her like an unclaimed baggage?

Rudy Habibie is scheduled to open on Aug 4.
