Stream time: blind busker’s first solo show to story crafting for beginners

Moka Mocha Ink’s (Moka) Ridhwan Saidi’s new 10-minute playlet is a two-hander that explores the clash between art and science.

The story revolves around Doktor and Pujangga who are at each other’s neck about whose practice is more essential and useful to the society in times of need.

Featuring Hannan Barakbah (Doktor) and Meier Wee (Pujangga) from Ensembel Teater Kaos Nol (an open collective established by Ridhwan in 2017), Nadi is part of Fakulti Teater Aswara’s inaugural online theatre fest "Pesta Teater Runcit" which also features nine other online playlets.

MUSIC: MENGHARAPKANMU

Date and Time: Aug 21, 9pm

You might know Fendy Adlun as the drummer of the visually impaired pop rock group Caliph Buskers, which has been active recently at PPV centres in Kuala Lumpur.

Tonight, he takes the spotlight, armed with a guitar and a songbook of personal favourites.

As his first solo performance, the showcase will also feature Fendy talking about his journey as a musician between songs.

THEATRE: A GOOD STORY, CHANGES HISTORY

Date and Time: Aug 22, 9pm

Find out what makes a story good and how to craft one with director/playwright Khairi Anwar in this live session by Warung Telinga, a youth-led digital platform.

Khairi, the co-founder of theatre company Anomalist Production, has several award-winning works under his belt including Teater Bangsa: Anak Kecil Main Api, Pohlithik and short film Ralat The Musical.

The online sharing session will also double as a fundraising event. All proceeds will be channelled to Ipoh-based orphanage Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia.

ARTS: THESE SHOES ARE MADE FOR PAINTING

These Shoes Are Made For Painting continues the weekly virtual arts related workshop held by Kakiseni Junior in collaboration with Riuh4Rakyat.

In this workshop, suitable for those aged 13 and above, find out how you can transform your old (or new) pair of sneakers into a work of art.

The workshop will be conducted by contemporary artist Haris Rashid known for his plant and mythology inspired artworks.

These Shoes Are Made For Painting, ticketed, will stream via Zoom.

All proceeds will be channelled to Projek Bangsa Malaysia for Frontliners, Tempatan Food Bank by Tempatan Fest, Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA) & Refuge For Refugee.

Luminous is a dance performance in conjunction with Chong Hwa Independent High School Kuala Lumpur Dance Club’s 40th anniversary celebration.

This pre-recorded online show will showcase new and past performances choreographed by the club’s dance coaches and alumni.

MUSIC: MINI RECITAL BY YS TANG

DATE AND TIME: Aug 22, 3pm

Classical guitarist YS Tang heads online for a mini recital, with a setlist featuring Albeniz (Tango, España, Op.165, no. 2), Bach (Fugue, BWV 998) and Castelnuovo-Tedesco (Pesame dello, Escarraman Op. 177).

Tang, a trained musician and academic, is currently a freelance musician and also an adjunct lecturer for the classical guitar at UiTM. He performs regularly and is also actively engaging in classical music outreach programmes with VerSeS and KL Madrigal Singers.
