A mass teddy bear hunt is under way around the world to help distract the millions of children locked down because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The hunt is inspired by the children’s book 'We’re Going On A Bear Hunt' written by British author Michael Rosen. Photo: AFP

In a residential neighbourhood of the US capital, children are hunting for bears. Not the ferocious ones, of course – but stuffed animals peering out from neighbours' windows.

In Washington as in other cities and towns across America and around the world, the collective scavenger hunt is captivating stir-crazy children under coronavirus lockdowns.
