Shane Capri Chin and Vinna Law, two young KL-based directors, are not the sort to sit around and wait for positive change to drop from the sky. Instead they want to initiate the change themselves and through pro-active theatre and edgy storytelling, they want to build a platform to address societal prejudices and challenge gender stereotypes.

Early this year, they set up the VSC Project, an arts collective. The mission is to take on public – and personal – issues, especially those concerning gender. In some of today’s societies, being different is often considered a risk. Be it man or woman, those who do not conform to traditional expectations of how gender should be are often insulted, persecuted, and in some cases, even attacked, just for being themselves.
