There is no such thing as crate-digging fatigue in Kuala Lumpur. Where there are vinyl records to be found, there will be a long line of music collectors and obsessives. The only problem is there are not many undiscovered record shops or untapped flea markets left in town, and you can only hope for a stray car boot loaded with decent records at some random neighbourhood car boot sale.
“The (music) digging scene in KL blows hot and cold. On some lucky days, you will score big, and then, you might go on for weeks without finding anything. For regular diggers, flea markets are not exactly the best for vinyl hunting since you have to navigate through all the other junk to get to a box of battered, broken records,” says Nataza Mohamad, 42, musician and avid record collector.
