Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport BBCC (LaLaport BBCC) is more than just about shopping, it’s a lifestyle. And it offers a rich, immersive experience for both local and international visitors with its six retail floors of 400 stores which will be opened in stages.
Literary adventure
Just like prisoners in its historical past, visitors to BookXcess Pudu Jail @ LaLaport will be “held captive” ... but in a good way. With its extensive selection of books and distinctive concept, it’s a haven for avid readers and book lovers.
Designed by two designers, it offers two different concepts, each with its own unique colour scheme and design - linear-urbanscapes and retro-futurism – within one store.
There are several activation points as you walk through the store: graffiti inspired “art gallery” walls which showcase amazing art pieces for sale, Mossery “stationery corner” for journaling enthusiasts, a “Temple” at the centre of the vast store which houses hidden vintage fashion gems curated by renowned fashion designer Datuk Sri Bernard Chandran, the “Tomb” cocoon-like cosy space for readers, a split-level floor with snug pockets to browse and sit, welcomed by “Disney characters” and children’s books, a “glass bridge”-cum-viewing point with futuristic lighting panels of interactive art, an exciting “underground bunker/cell” to reminisce of days gone by. There’s also a specialty café, restaurant and ice cream parlour within the store.
Fashion and household concept store
A well-known Malaysian brand, Metrojaya’s latest store at LaLaport BBCC is a next-generation store that showcases trendsetting lifestyle products, some which aren’t available anywhere else. Comprising local and international brands, shopping will be a seamless experience where you can get all you need - from fashion to furnishings - all within one store.
There are also pampering and grooming niches, and cool Instagram-worthy spots as well as a coffee cart situated in the store for a relaxing and comfortable shopping outing.
Savour the sizzle
Yakiniku or “Japanese grilled beef” specialist Yakiniquest opens its first outlet outside of Singapore - Yakiniku Sizzle - at LaLaport BBCC.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Suguru Ishida and Tomoko, the specialist in yakiniku continues to champion the variety of cuts and techniques of high-quality Japanese wagyu through tasting menus served omakase-style, here in Kuala Lumpur.
Diners can savour the sights, sounds and flavours of self-cooked wagyu cuts on the grill at this new outlet just as its founders - who have chronicled their adventures in yakiniku cuisine throughout Japan and the world (exploring over 2,000 such specialty restaurants throughout 15 years) - in their lifelong quest for yakiniku cuisine.
Simply perfect
Hookie Dookie lounge and bar has opened its second branch at LaLaport BBCC, with deals as low as RM13.90 for its lunch set, and a menu boasting recipes packed with flavour and made from the heart.
“We want this to be a place where locals and tourists can come and feel at home,” say co-founders Arman and Jonathan Yong.
With the newly-launched branch, the Iranian-Malaysian duo offer Western-Asian fusion cuisine and an extensive cocktail menu. Its All Day Happy Hour is also available with beer prices starting at RM9.90 per mug. The mall, which has 2,400 parking spots, has direct pedestrian connection to Hang Tuah LRT and KL Monorail stations and is a five-minute walk from the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang line Merdeka station.
