The British poet William Blake once said, that it was easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend. Blake was probably right: betrayal has often been accepted as one of the absolute sins one can commit. To betray someone, after all, first requires trust, and breaking such a sacred bond is a dark deed that is impossible to recover from.
